ORTHOGRAPHY
Tower of Shadows: Image
There are multiple views of building object or form , orthography looks at them in various ways that read together help us understand our spaces in 3D.
This module taught us of thinking of these spaces through plans sections and isometric views. Imagining these spaces through these drawings involved the usage of proper measurements and geometrical instruments.
Structures before being made in real, require a lot of planning, this planning is done through orthographic drawings, structures/objects once made on paper are scaled up or down according to the needs.
Something important we learned here was the need to plan and ideate through these scales. This only makes production easier.
Tower of Shadows: Text
Towards the end of this module we looked at famous buildings around the world and studied their architectural form.
My group was working with `The Tower of Shadows` by Le Corbusier in Chandigarh.
Made in 1952 the building works with the solar movement and the play of light.
this pavilion is made in exposed concrete and has vertical fins which let the light in and out of the structure.
